Two mistakes we see often
Not for falls
A waist belt does not stop a fall
Work positioning belts (EN 358) hold you against a pole or wall. In a fall they can break your back. Use an EN 361 harness.
Too short a fall
A lanyard needs room to work
A 2 m lanyard with an absorber needs around 6 m of clear height below the anchor. Lower down, use a retractable fall arrester.

Questions
From what height do I need a harness?
Wherever a fall could injure you and no guard rail or platform prevents it. Many site rules set 2 m; follow your site’s safety plan.
How long does a harness last?
Check it before every use and have it inspected by a competent person regularly. Take it out of use after any fall, or if the webbing is cut, burnt or stiff.
Does a harness come with a lanyard?
Some do and some do not. The product page says what is in the box.
This page helps you choose equipment. It is not a risk assessment. Follow your site’s safety plan and a competent person’s assessment.
