Two mistakes we see often

Half in

Earplugs only work pushed fully in

Roll foam plugs thin, pull the ear up and back, and hold the plug in while it expands. A plug sitting at the opening blocks very little.

Gaps

Safety glasses can break the earmuff seal

Thick frames under the cushions let noise in. Thin-armed glasses keep the seal.

Questions

What do SNR and NRR mean?

Both say how many decibels the protector takes off. SNR is the European rating (EN 352), NRR the American one. Real-world protection is usually lower than the label, so do not cut it fine.

Earmuffs or earplugs?

Earmuffs for noise that comes and goes, and when they will be taken on and off. Earplugs for a full shift, in heat, or with other headgear. In very loud places, both together.

Do helmet earmuffs fit any helmet?

No. They clip into side slots, so the helmet has to have slots of the same size.
